Sheffield Cricket Club is excited to announce that major redevelopments are to go ahead at the Sheffield Recreation Ground over the course of the next 18 months. These major developments form part of the Master Plan for the Sheffield Recreation Ground precinct.
The major project will see redevelopment of the change room facilities, along with a new indoor training facility. These facilities will not only benefit Sheffield Cricket Club, they are and will be assets for the community to use. The toilet and change room facilities will be available for use at peak times of the year for events such as Steamfest. The indoor facility will be multipurpose, providing opportunities for other organisations and clubs in the district to use.
Sheffield CC is extremely excited about these developments for cricket, especially in its area! This major development will have huge benefits for the club, not only will it provide an indoor training facility for senior teams, it will provide a much needed facility to foster and grow their junior programs. The club is also planning to provide female cricketers in the district with an opportunity to play cricket for Sheffield, this new facility will be a major drawcard by providing a suitable environment for them.
The total cost of this major project is approximately $750,000 and is planned to be completed by the end of 2018. The Tasmanian Liberal Government will be contributing $365,000 with the remainder of the funding coming from the Kentish Council.
The Council have been the major drivers behind these major capital works, and Sheffield Cricket Club thanks them for their help and support. The club would also like to thank Mark Shelton and the Tasmanian Liberal Government for their major contribution and their understanding of the importance of this new facility for Sheffield Cricket Club and the whole Kentish community.
