Female Pre-Season Gala Day A Success
Date of Event : Tue Oct 30, 2018 4:13PM

Thanks to everyone involved with Sunday's inaugural Female Pre-Season Gala Day at Maidstone Park.

It was fantastic to have all six CNW clubs involved in a senior female competition for the first time. Sunday represented an opportunity for clubs to welcome new players without the stress of playing for competition points. We also performed some training and testing of the MyCricket Live Score app.

Taz Drone Solutions were in attendance to capture some action and promotional footage to be used in support of female cricket, while CNW took heaps of photos too. We will share a photo gallery soon, with clubs to receive a selection of photos they can use for promotional purposes.

While scores were a bit on the low side due to slow early-season outfields, clubs welcomed the opportunity to play a minimum of two games, with all players able to have a bat, bowl and field. The weather was kind to us too, which made for a great day!

Our teams featured a good mix of player ages and cricket experience, including a few mothers and daughters playing together! Another of the day's highlights was the fielding, with some classic catches taken - including pearlers from Shakyra Oliver (Ulverstone), Cherie Hawkins (Wynyard) and Hanna Watling (Burnie Hurricanes).

A big thank you goes to our Captains and Coaches, who have done a fine job getting their teams together and prepared for 2018/19.

The Gala Day was a great way for us to launch into our eighth season of female cricket, starting with our Female Competition commencing on Sunday November 11.

Summary of Scores - Female Pre-Season Gala Day:

Sheffield 1/47 defeated Devonport 6/46

There are still plenty of opportunities for players to join their local CNW club and try cricket. Along with our Senior Female Competition played on Sundays, we have our Monday night Girls Under-17s competition starting in December, and Women's Division 2 competition in February. Go to www.playcricket.com.au to find your local CNW club.
