Latrobe Wins The Big Apple Under-15 Premiership

Congratulations to Latrobe Cricket Club, The Big Apple Under-15 Premiers for 2012/13. The Demons defeated Devonport in today's Grand Final played at Devonport Oval.

Latrobe batted first and made 106 from its 40 overs, with Jacob Webb making 37 runs and Zak Nicolle 25. For Devonport, Adam Jago and Justin Neubacher picked up two wickets each.

In reply Devonport were bowled out for 54, with Brock Bucknell (20) and Caleb Lane (14) leading the scoring. Latrobe's bowling star was Zak Nicolle, who took 4-1 from 5 overs, including a hat-trick.

This completed a fairytale story for the Demons, who hadn't won a game in the previous two seasons in the Under-15 competition, but climbed to the top this year.

Thanks to Devonport Cricket Club for hosting the event. The players and spectators loved seeing the electronic scoreboard in action too! A big thanks to CNW Umpires Leigh Marmion and Mike How for officiating in the game as well.

Well done to everyone involved with this year's Under-15 competition. There have been some exceptional performances, and I'm sure many 1st Grade players will emerge from this group in the years to come.
